Footnote Account and Data Deletion

Last updated: 2026-05-15

This page explains how Footnote users can delete their account or request deletion of app data.

Request deletion

You can delete your account in the Footnote app:

  1. Open Footnote.
  2. Go to Settings.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Follow the confirmation steps shown in the app.

You can also request account or data deletion by emailing support@footnote-app.com.

Please email from the address associated with your Footnote account when possible. We may need to verify account ownership before completing a deletion request.

What account deletion removes

Account deletion removes the authenticated Footnote account and is designed to cascade deletion of account-owned database records, including profile data, logs, reviews, lists, replies, follows, notifications, beta feedback, content reports, and related app records. Avatar storage objects are removed as part of the account deletion process.

What may remain temporarily

Some records may remain for a limited period in backups, logs, security records, app store records, or provider systems where deletion is not immediate or is controlled by a third-party service. Public or shared content may also remain if it has been copied, exported, cached, or independently stored by others before deletion.

Timing

In-app deletion begins when you confirm the deletion flow. Email deletion requests are reviewed after ownership verification, and we aim to process verified requests within 30 days.
